Game Vision Statement
Introduction
“Pumpkin Chase” is a third person adventure game for the PC that is set
in a small Halloween town where the player must complete quests on behalf of
Mr. Patch, in order to achieve their own goals. The player sets on a journey to
run around his town, finding NCP’s to fulfill the ultimate task set upon by Mr.
Patch. You can explore and interact with NPC’s unrelated to the task, to learn more
about the town. You must also talk to certain NCP’s in certain locations to be able to find the
main NCP, Mr. Tom, who will provide you with what you need for Mr. Patch.
Description
In this game, although you have read above the main purpose of this game,
there shall be more details provided. In “Pumpkin Chase”, you will begin the
game in your house. You are hoping to be able to get some apples from your neighbour,
Mr. Patch. After paying a visit to him, you find out that he would like you to
bring him some pumpkins from Mr. Tom in exchange for those apples. He tells you
Mr. Tom will be a this shop. You run around the town, exploring and trying to
find the location. When you reach Mr. Toms shop, he is nowhere to be found
until you are told he is at the library. The game continues in a similar
pattern for the rest of the game, where you go to each location and talk to other
NPC’s about the whereabouts of missing Mr.Tom. When you finally find him, he sends
you on his own personal quest to bring him 10 candy corns. These are
collectibles you can find by exploring areas and corners of towns. They act as
a currency. Due to this game being a Halloween theme, you will find references
to Halloween as well as potential easter eggs to certain iconic movies and
games. As your own personal quest, see if you can determine what they are.
The main resources and assets for this game would be medieval house
models, candy corns, pumpkins, nature, a stone road. Things that make a medieval
town look like one. Here is a video I watched that inspires and lets me imagine
how to make this town look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoWQ1ZAzGoc&ab_channel=Sykoo
It isn’t a tutorial for how to make one (just yet) but to be able to make
something, you need to have a plan and image in mind and this definitely helps
with that. I looked up on YouTube some Halloween themed games made on unity specifically
and this was one of the videos to come up. It is a demo of someone’s game but
what I really like about this, is how the atmosphere looks with the green sky
and the horror soundtrack. Although this game genre does not fit my game, the
style it has is the goals for my game. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFixRXIez2E&ab_channel=PeterBubenicek.
The overall idea of this game would be as Greedfall meets Super Mario Galaxy
meets MySims Kingdom.

Genre
This game is going to be a third person, adventure game. The idea is a Halloween
themed, where the goal is to have it spooky but spooky in a child-like sense.
The aim is to have it be cute and harmless but where the atmosphere can be
chilling. The same sense of feeling and imagination you get when you used to go
trick or treating as a child. It is fantasy based with medieval aspects – no modern
technology in this game setting.
Platforms
The platform this game will be available on will be PC and possibly on
console but that is to be determined on how the PC version works out first.
Hey, ouuu Halloween themed game ! Sounds fun. Your description is great and I can see the game in my head and how it will work , the visuals sound great. Have you thought about adding some sort of things (enemies) that are flying around possibly and want to destroy you ? Have you considered adding other elements like levels of some sort or having some plot twist in your game?. I think the idea sounds great and this will definately be a great game in the end! I really like the idea and I will for sure play it once its made :)
